Josephine Tey is the pseudonym of the Scottish writer Elizabeth Mackintosh, a recognized master of the classic British detective story. The novel "The Mysterious Affair in Frances" (also known in another translation as "The Case of the Betty Kane Kidnapping") took 11th place in the list of "100 best detective novels of all time" according to the Boyant Crime Writers Association. The plot of the detective is built around the kidnapping of a young girl, in which Marion Sharp and her mother are accused. The case is investigated by detective Alan Grant, the through hero of the cycle of six novels by Josephine Tey. The book presents the full unadapted text of the work in the original language.
