Jack London: Before Adam

The hero of J. London's story "Before Adam" is a well-educated man, a contemporary of the author. He suffers from a split personality - since childhood he has had dreams in which he is transported to prehistoric times, to primitive people who have not yet learned to speak and have not parted with their fur. Every night he dreams of a continuation of the previous dream - nature, hunting, relationships with other tribes of half-men-half-apes. These visions frightened the hero, and only after growing up, from fragments of dreams, he was able to reconstruct the life of his alter ego.
