"Tarzan of the Apes" is an adventure novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950), who gave the world one of the most famous and beloved literary heroes. The fascinating story, full of exciting adventures, tells the story of a baby - the son of English aristocrats, who after the death of his parents was saved and raised by monkeys. In their tribe, he learns the language of animals, dexterity, unconditional courage and strength of spirit. Such an unusual upbringing does not go in vain: having grown up, the boy bravely avenges the murder of his adoptive mother, the monkey Kala, pacifies man-eating animals in the jungle, defeats greedy pirate adventurers and copes with many other difficulties. Having gained immense popularity, the first novel about Tarzan was continued by the author with more than twenty sequels. Thus, a whole series of works appeared, united by the image of a noble savage, who also became a favorite character in films, television and radio programs, comics and parodies.
